Hi All, As some of you may know my stepfather is building a 1966 Dodge Charger with a big block 383, here is the build thread if anyone wants to follow it. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthread...s-1966-dodge-charger-restification.html. We have the engine mainly together and basically all we have left is the air conditioning, condenser, and radiator. I maybe missing a couple of things, anyway our plan is to put modern air conditioning in and NOT use the big and heavy RV2 to save a bit of weight and get cooler air. We are thinking of buying the Stage 2 Performance Kit from Original Air for $850.00, here is a picture and the link. We are looking for suggestions opinions and what have you about modern air conditioning prices and such, is there anything a bit cheaper than $850.00 with what we are looking for. Anybody? Any help, knowledge etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone https://www.originalair.com/66-70-b...0-134a-engine-compartment-upgrade-kit-stage-2

Call the makers and ask if it will fit an A/C car. I was going to scrap the A/C in my 68 Valiant but I come to find out none of the existing holes in the firewall were usable and there is no kit to replace the push button vacuum controls so I kept the old system and went new under hood. The aftermarket is geared up for non A/C cars at least in the A body so call first.

An aftermarket AC system that will FREEZE YOU OUT ? I’ve got a bud that’s building a Willy’s that would love that option! Any aftermarket AC system we’ve ever seen is MORE than lacking

Doing that I agree, the compressor doesn't make that much of a difference. The under dash part makes it freeze you out. not the under hood, assuming you have a big enough condenser.

The AC brackets are most likely Bouchillon. I'm planning on a complete aftermarket system for my '67 Barracuda convertible, but may piece some of it together. I used a Vintage Air GenV evaporator and matching in-dash electronic controller and pieced together an under hood set-up from Nostalgic A/C on my 5.9 Magnum based motor with factory serpentine belt drive. It works very well an fit nicely, as. Vintage Air does not offer an A-Body kit as of yet. I used the largest condenser that would fit in front of my radiator and had a local shop fit and crimp my A/C lines.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

I have one in my Polara wagon and it will make you reach for the low cool. Kevin

Does anyone know of any places that sells what I am looking for cheaper than $850? We would spend it if we have to but we would like to find something cheaper as $850 is a bit much.
