Does anyone have a BB RPM head laying around (not installed). I would like to know what an intake and exhaust valve weigh.

I recently scored a set of 75cc E Streets for too good a price to pass up. From everything I have read, it uses a cheaper valve train and heavier valves. Not too worried about the springs and keepers since I will be replacing those. I am curious about the valve weight.

Thanks,
Dan...

Dan,

I only have some old exhaust valves from my E-RPM heads. On my wife's pretty nice kitchen scale they are in a range of 108-114 grams (across 7 valves). Most were in the 113-114 range. Not sure if that range is normal or not. These valves were pulled because of tight guides so the stems are marked a little.

Dave

This is second hand info because I asked a friend that has a new pair of RPM 84cc heads to weigh the valves. He used a cheapo digital postage scale so the numbers are likely plus/minus a few grams.
Exhaust: 112g
Intake: 124g

Please post the E-street weights as I would like to know the difference as well. Also do you have the actual spring specs for the E-street?

Thanks!

I weighed mine of the E-Street 75cc and intake valve was 4.2 oz or 120 grams and the exhaust valve came in at 4 oz or 110 grams.

So, it appears the all the cheapness (if you will) is in the valve springs, keepers and retainers. The spring came in at 144 lbs at 1.88 and at .500 were 250 lbs. So don't go crazy with a cam or rev too hard. I am going to replace the springs and other stuff anyhow.

Dan...

Looking at the pdf instruction sheets for each it appears springs, keepers, and retainers are the same between the two versions as the same part numbers are listed for both. I did notice the E-streets have powder metal valve seats.
