Did a quick and dirty conceptual photo composite of my friend Matt's '40 Dodge coupe. This is one he's owned for years, but sounds like it's going to be on the road relatively soon. 318/auto, 8-3/4, some nicely reupholstered A100 seats and better brakes. The car is mostly still original paint, so he's going to stick with that and the decades of patina the car has... Enjoy!

My daughter gave it her seal of approval. But unfortunately Matt wouldn't let us bring it home for her. grin

Thanks guys! Hope I get to turn some wrenches on the car with him soon... it really is a solid old car. Like all of us, it just needs some love.

I really didn't change all that much from the original photo. biggrin

Have your buddy do some research on bringing back old paint. It will look very good if he's careful.

For the way the pros do it. These steps are the proper way to do it for anyone, but the pros have a LOT more gear and very expensive product.

Here is an old thread showing how a pro did it.

Using a 'system' like 3M or Meguier's is probably the best for a DIY guy,
There are a bunch of youtube videos, watch them until you have a good idea of what is going to work for you.

For a hack job, still better than letting it continue to rust,
