I've been considering a V8 swap into my yj. I haven't found an ideal donor vehicle, but have run across a cheap Durango with a good 5.9. Where can I find info for the OBD2 to OBD1 issue or other info on how people made the swap and worked out the computer junk? I don't want to build another vehicle that I could never sell if I wanted to. Been there, done that. I'm in California, but smog not required except on transfer. Oh, and I understand Durango's have some security measures with the computers that Rams and Dakotas don't have? Any info on that?

I converted an OBD1 to OBD 2. You can use a pickup truck computer. Not sure if there would be any other issues with Jeep. Getting the pinouts for your Jeep would help out to match everything else. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthread...-obd2-conversion-update.html#Post2678921

Jonesy was an immense help (along with HotRodDave) on my 5 spd. manual swap into my old '00 5.9 Durango and now with swapping the 5.9 into a Dakota. Are you going auto or manual on the trans? If manual I used a PCM from a '00 Ram 1500 5.2 ( read several places that a 5.2 PCM would be too lean for a 5.9 but mine runs great). Here's a PCM swap grid (courtesy of Jonesy ) that will help. https://www.hotwireauto.com/chrysler-harnessesNot sure about Dakotas/Rams but some Durangos came with a chip key. Mine didn't but had the factory security system. After I swapped in the truck PCM I never had a problem with the alarm system. Tim
