Which head produces more HP both straight out of the box?
Indy EZ-1 or TFS-6161T784-C01?

I know Indy’s need some work out of the box while sometimes Trick Flows are good to go. Anyone know which head produces more power?

You’re asking if the fully cnc ported head is better than an unported head?

Yes.

From a flow perspective, the “equivalent” Indy head to the TF270 is the EZ CNC295........ and that would be after the seats were recut and blended on the EZ head.

I've tested several engines with out of the box TF 270 heads. They all made excellent power, usually 700+ hp on a typical 500 inch bracket type engine. Out of the box Indy stuff usually doesn't work very well. I don't see much of it anymore since it has a fairly bad reputation so Dwayne is the guy to ask. My Indy EZ heads made great power after they were reworked a couple of times. Modern CNC ported them and then Dwayne put the finishing touches on them. So the Indy stuff can be made to work but you have to finish them since Indy doesn't.

Indy now has new owners & from what I have heard they are great people.

Fastplymouth:
I appreciate your reply and others.

I was wondering which flowed more if both were straight out the box no extra porting.

I’m pretty sure that has been answered.

The EZ 295(cnc ported EZ head) outflows the EZ-1(unported head), and the TF 270 outflows the EZ 295......until the valve seats have been recut and blended in the 295.
After the EZ 295 has been tweaked, it flows basically the same as the ootb TF 270.

I haven’t had a EZ CNC 295 in the shop since the new owners have taken over, so it’s possible they are doing a little extra finish work that might make them the flow equal to the TF 270, without additional work being required.
But, the ones I’ve had here through the years needed some tweaking to be able match the TF 270 flow.
Nothing major at all...... but tweaking.

The unported EZ-1 isn’t going to match a TF 270 for flow.
