I've been wanting to do this for sometime now so with all that is going on I went and purchased (weeks ago) a less than $200 film to digital converter. There's a couple of brands out there but I went for the Kodak Scanza for around $180 and it seems to work fine for doing 35mm slides and all of the various film negatives and even 8 and Super 8 movie film. So if you're looking for something to do and you have a lot of GREAT memories on slides and film negatives it surely will bring back happy memories than what we are going through these days as it has for me and the family. A few random examples. The originals are of much better quality but being able to share the memories by digital format is more important to us than the quality at this time.

I have a ton of old digital pictures burned onto CD/DVDs. Since learning that CD/DVD's aren't permanent, I have been slowly
transferring all the data onto my 2 external backup hard drives.
I also have to transfer all my old Sony Hi8 videos onto the hard drives.

You can find the Kodak Scanza for $160 at most places with free 2-day shipping (Crutchfield). It has a 22mgp resolution mode which is actually way more than needed as 35mm slides are really somewhere between 9 - 12 mega pixels, don't know about film but I would believe film should be the same meg pix?

I never shot slides during my film days.
But my dad did and I have a ton of his slides.
Awhile back, I even bought an old Kodak slide projector to see them.
I ought to convert the slides over to digital as well before they go bad.

My brother did that over the last few years. Dad took a lot of pictures when he was in Korea. We have no clue who any of his buddies were, but tons of great pictures.

He was also scanning and printing old family photos. He scanned Grampa's baby picture taken in 1903 and when he printed it, it looked like it had been taken yesterday.

Some non motorcycle and one that still haunts me to this day. A friend and motorcycle off road racing teammate and I decided to stop at the Grand Canyon on the way out west to a race. He decides that he wanted me to take a "daring" photo of him at the edge. I tried like h#77 to not do anything stupid but before I could get the words out he leaps into the snow and walks to the edge. He didn't know how close he was to the edge and how close to canceling our trip and his life You can see in the lower left of the Canyon photo his tracks, for all he knew that patch of snow could have been hanging over the edge with a straight drop to the canyon floor. I still have nightmares about that stupid move. I clicked off the photos so fast and then told him to get his @$$ straight back through his original footsteps!!

The third photo was taken somewhere in the Alps at the top of a road pass in Northern Italy or Switzerland, a sports car and sport bike small paradise.

My dad got one from his group at work when he retired in 2010 or 2011 and had fun going thru some of his old slides. I forget what kind it is now. Our scanner also does them so I need to compare sometime and see what does a better job.

I bought one used last year, but only to do the 110 stuff. I use my Epson flatbed for everything else still-wise.

I have captured all of my Mini-DV and 8mm video tape. I've done some of my VHS and need to do my dad's Beta again. What I really NEED is a Sony EV-210 or equivalent to do the 1" reel to reel video tapes from my old high school. I've got Umatic equipment for the later videos from the school.

Found a couple of slides that I converted to digital from Zugspitz the highest peak in the Bavarian Alps. At the time I thought these guys were crazy.....hmmmmm I still think they were nuts
