Hi,

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine bought the Bill McGraw Rod Shop 1971 Super Stock/E Hemi Charger. He is wanting to put all of the vintage sponsor decals back on the car but he can't identify 2 particular decals. One is way down on the lower part of the front fender just behind the front wheel and looks like it says "GTS"? So there is not a great picture of it .. The other is also on the lower front fender on the edge of the lower valance pane.l I believe it's square like, cross haired into 4 quadrants in blue except the lower left corner which is in red... Anyone have any idea what these decals are or better yet do you have some my friend could buy?

Wasn't GTS a line of Amalie oil?

Not sure but ill look into it.

Another vote for an oil. Maybe GT5?

For the Amalie one Id contact Garlits museum. He was sponsored by them.

I think Don Garlits had Kendall oil for one of his main sponsors from the late 1960 to maybe starting in the early 1970s, I don't remember seeing Amalie on any of his cars back then

GT1 oil was Kendall

In the first pic the front lower emblem looks like the old Hurst emblem... there shop was right near me when
I was a kid.. took my 442 W30 over there so they could work on my Hurst shifter.. they did a lot of work
for Chrysler back then being they were only a few miles from Chrysler Engineering where I worked

Mystery solved on one of the decals the one that looked like GTS actually is GTB for Greater Torque Battery..

Still trying to figure out the stylized A logo..

About 1/8 of the way down this link are oval versions of the GTB decals with rulers next to them for size reference.

Glad to help. I'm a big Rod Shop fan. He may have gotten the funny car model pics with the square decal from me with a suggestion to see if the model builder was still around. Connie Kalitta also had that square decal on one of his cars that was painted similar to Shirley Muldowney's.

A lady just poted this on the Rod Shop facebook page. Don't know if your buddy has seen it.

Looks like some writing beneath this photo of Shirley's Mustang F/C. Maybe someone can expand it.
