Have a 360/408 in the shop. OE block, 587 heads. Comp Cams cam and hyd roller lifters. Problem: push rods hit the push rod "tube" on the valve side of the head. Put in a solid lifter/pushrod and it is close but OK. So, the height of the hyd roller lifter seems to be at fault. Puts the pushrod at such an angle to hit. Has cast rockers. Borrowed a HS rocker for long valve install hoping to see a cure but no joy. Has anyone else had this happen?

As I've just completed my new stroker (410), I debated flat vs roller. and the shop told me that with roller lifters being taller, then the pushrod holes in the heads would need to be opened up... and the pushrods would be shorter and at a more severe angle.

This is why the factory HR motors have heads with much bigger pushrod holes.

When we raced Super Stock back in the day we used to have to mill the tubes to the intake side for clearance. The high lift would move the pushrods to that side. Never seen this though. I guess I have to take the heads back off and do some Bridgeport work.

Here's how mine look. The dowel through the hole shows how much I removed. Engine is not assembled yet, but hopefully I removed enough to not be a problem.
