https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/credit-cards/ducks-unlimited-card-2020s-best-gas-card/Sample quote That’s not to say this card is a no-brainer for anyone with a car. First, consider that you might not spend as much on gas as you think. According to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average household spends about $2,000 a year total on gas, motor oil and other fuel. And its rewards beyond gas might not be especially appealing to most households: unlimited 5% cash back at sporting goods stores and 1% cash back on all other purchases. End quote Have you found a better rebate from a credit card?

Closest station to me is a Citgo which usually is the same as the cheapest price in town
So I use a Citgo card , which gives me the cash price and an extra 5 cents off a gallon when they bill at the end of the month

How many of you guys pay your statement balance IN FULL every month? Why would anybody worry about cash back if you are not paying it in full every month?

i charge everything over $5 on my discover until i hit the cash back limit. then i use my capitol one cash back card. the discover has a tiny bit better cash back.
i pay my balance in full every week. so i can keep better tabs on my spending. been doing this for the last 15 years, have 845 credit rating, according to my discover card. was 849 but my CC companies upped my credit limit and my rating dropped a couple of points.
i should open and read my constant credit card offers i get every week, at least 3. i hear capitol one has a card that pays 5% back on EVERYTHING with no limit on the total reward amount. don't know if this is just a temporary thing, probably, or a regular feature. should read my mail because it ends up in the shredder before i open it.
for the OP i myself like a card that best pays back on EVERYTHING you usually purchase. not just select items. this is what i would recommend.
perception is 90% of reality

I don't use a gas card, specifically. We have 12 different cards, but only use 3. Target gets used at Target (5% off), Kohl's gets used at Kohl's (Kohl's Cash), and Capital One Quicksilver gets used for everything else. The only things that don't go on my credit card are a few utility bills, my older daughter's high school tuition, and my mortgage. Between what we save at Target and Kohl's, and my cash back from Capital One, it works out really well for us. Put almost $60k on our Capital One card last year. Haven't paid a dime in CC interest on any CC in close to 25 years.

I pay my Discover in full every month and always get cash back credit for the prior month charges. IN FULL has been said lots here ... Statement balance IN FULL ? Every month for years. My Discover card is my checking account, and getting this cash back (I just apply it to the monthly bill) totals out to a hundred bucks or more every year. Only thing is using credit for gas has no advantage anymore since theres usually a 10 cent per gallon upcharge .
IN FULL has been said lots here ... Statement balance IN FULL ?
I don't own a credit card Thinking of getting one for the discount and cash back on fuel. I drop $100 in the tank an average of every other day. Looking into the tax consequences of showing actual fuel use. The plow tuck only drinks when it snows
