Hello,
My factory service manual says there is a special tool for adj. the throttle spindle lever stop screw on the valve body.

I have heard of people using a straight punch to completely compress the throttle plunger into the VB

And making the correct gap (measurement) and locking up the set screw.

Question is what is that measurement ? and assuming the the gap should be measured with the spindle stop tab against the screw head.
Thanks Jim

The factory tool for use with the valve bottomed out measures .625".

This adjustment isn't critical, an air gap of around .200" will suffice.

John , Thanks for your reply
I have .200" gap without bottoming the throttle spring.

Years ago I installed a Transgo tf 1 kit and it always needed to many engine rpm to shift at light throttle application.

No matter how I adjusted the throttle pressure linkage or even changing back to the stock governor didn't change 2800 rpm into 2nd

Do you think it would be wise to go back to the original spring (which is blue) that's behind the throttle pressure plunger? I'm sure I don't have the sleeve backwards . also I used the kits yellow line pressure spring with that spring backed up all the way to the cage .No gap or anyway to reduce line pressure.

Thanks Jimi

John,
I took your advise about removing the yellow throttle pressure spring that was supplied with the transgo kit . and re-installed the original blue spring.

Happy too report that I road tested my trans rebuild and its a success !!! added plus is the Blue spring is allowing nice low engine rpm up-shifts at light throttle applications , Much better around town driving.driving.
Thanks for your help! Jim
