Looking for a little help in determining what the SPD would be for my car...VS29H1B167XXX. Car was repainted early in life, and the door VIN sticker is gone. I'd like to have a new ECS decal made, but want it to be correct. The fender tag and broadcast sheet are both presumed to be lost to time.

Before the bandwagon rolls in, I'm not trying to deceive anyone. It's a race car, and will stay a race car, but I like having minute details there when possible.

The SPD was a scheduled date, but a lot of cars were not built on schedule.

Many cars have door stickers that show an earlier or later month than the SPD.

They also used different fonts at times.

So with the original Mylar gone, why bother?

Use the money for race gas. :-)

Do you have the fender tag?
The SPD should be on there.

OP says FT is "lost in time", which I interpret to mean missing.

Given the VIN, I'd guess it was an early car.

I'd be tempted to have some fun with the SPD, like April 1st, or Feb 30th, or your birthday...

Well after the initial response of why bother...I reached out to the third owner of the car (who found out I had the car by total coincidence/accident...interesting story for another place/time) and have located the second owner of the car. I have reason to believe the car was sold new in/around my hometown, so working on seeking some dealer info out. There is a chance that one of the two dealers I believe it came from, may have some sort of record for the car.

As stated, the tag is missing. Car was turned into a drag car around 1980. It was stored away from 1988 until I bought it last May. It's a real time capsule of an early bracket car, I just want to clean it up, and detail it to my preferences.

Now that is what I am talking about, screw the naysayers and build it like you want! up

I started this thread because I just wanted to replace the missing decal.

I'm a little more curious though as to what the car was originally as owner #3 told me some interesting things about how the car was when he got it. It's very likely the car was ordered to be a street racer...15k miles when he bought it, all stripes were removed, bench seat/column auto, and he is claiming that it was special ordered with 3.91's...we'll see.

3.91s were an extra cost option on Duster 340s.

Special order (Y39) was in use for things not typically on the menu like fleet orders, 999 paint, T99 tires, a 9999 interior, etc.
