Arlington National Cemetery is holding a 75th anniversary for the Coast Guard's greatest loss of life with the Serpens exploded off Guadalcanal. One of my command staff has taken his father and mother to the service. His father lost a brother on the ship.

His father drove the non-interstate highways from Indiana to Arlington in 1950 for the dedication, and will be in attendance tomorrow. RIP Ranard M Crowe S1 USCGR and all the crew.
