I was pulling up the original carpet in my 69 dart and there are little nails holding it down driven into the sheet metal floor. they are all over too and seem to be driven through the original jute to hold it down. Is this a factory thing, dealer thing, or did some high as a kite person do this for some stupid reason? The car is about as factory original as you can get and the carpet doesn't even look like it had been moved prior to me pulling it up last night. Thanks

I've heard of this practice, I'm thinking it was done after the car was built.

But driven thru the floor from the factory ??? Never seen it in any car I parted ???

I thought I read something about this a year or so ago on here. I think someone said that this was a common practice back in the day for aftermarket carpet installers. I don't think it's factory.
