HV pump, the newer HV pumps come with a high pressure spring, you have a stock type pump.

If you're running a stock oil pan and your oil clearances aren't on the loose side, then a stock type pump is what you want.

Thanks for your reply's the 383 hp motor I picked up came with this oil pan and windage tray plus the aftermarket carter performance fuel pump so I thought maybe the oil pump was hv?Is there a way to tell by taking it off?

The thickness of the pump body is how you tell if it's a high volume pump or not. Your pump appears to be about 1/4" shorter than the HV pump pictured above, so yours would be a standard volume pump. Like I said, not a bad thing and it's likely all it needs.

971 came with baffles front and rear, 5 quarts plus filter nominal fill, to my way of thinking that's actually not a horribly bad street performance kind of a piece.
The pump just looks like a stock piece but that's okay, if this is a stock-ish kind of a build I'd add a windage tray and that's about it,
