So what is the best way to seal up that stupid plate on the bottom of the intake? I have the Felpro gasket but should I use so sealer too?

I don't know about the FelPro gasket I've always used the factory gasket without sealer. Just make sure the bolts don't bottom out before reaching proper torque.

Hughes intake kit has been mentioned here many times! ELINKORed I don't want to use that. The problem is well known and the factory deballed the engines as a solution. My 99 Durango chewed through those yearly I wish I would have known about this then.

Many owners have posted in the past that the gasket maker in the cheese wiz can “The Right Stuff” worked well for them.
I have not used The Right Stuff on the plenum, but I have used 3 different official Chrysler gaskets on the Magnum V8 thermostat flange, and finally found that using The Right Stuff there worked MUCH BETTER and was removable.
Other Magnum V8 owners have posted that they TIG welded an custom cut Aluminum plate on instead of the OEM steel plate.
I have a strong feeling that Chrysler should have created a V8 version of the V10 intake manifold. This would improved low rpm towing Torque, improved V8 fuel economy, and eliminated that hidden gasket and the risk that bolts would drop down into the V.

I like this site's take on the Magnum stuff! Haven't used them yet, but will in the future for sure. http://utawesomeperformance.com/index.htmlMany owners have posted in the past that the gasket maker in the cheese wiz can “The Right Stuff” worked well for them.

V12? Did you mean to reference the V10?

Hughes intake kit has been mentioned here many times! ELINKORed I don't want to use that. If you don't switch to the aluminum plate you will continue to have problems. The issue is the different expansion rates of the aluminum intake and the steel plate. It just tears the gasket. This is the reason they went to a MLS head gasket on engines with aluminum heads. MLS means Multi layer steel in case you didn't know.

Thank for all the replies guys. I totally agree with the aluminum to steel thing which is what makes this such a stupid design. I'm kinda pressed for time, need my truck running this weekend. I've used The Right Stuff before on things that I didn't ever want to take back apart. Stuff is like welding in a tube. I went ahead and used it today so we'll see. I've had the new, improved Felpro gasket last around 3 years before it starts sucking oil again. Don't tare or sage, just leaks in between the bolts. I'm always keeping an eye out for a single or dual plane replacement intake. Just missed one on FABO. In the mean time if this one starts leaking again I have another kegger that I'll have my friend my an aluminum plate for and change it out. Thanks
