340Rick, BondoBob and I were standing at the starting line of Bristol's Thunder Valley Dragstrip and it seemed awful short to be 1/4 mile. We were there for the Nascar race and had a little extra time before the race to check out the beautiful dragstrip that runs between the mountains.
None of us remembered to bring a camera though.

Cool, seemed short though. Are the scoreboards closer to the starting line than the finish line is?

It's a 1/4 mile track. The score boards are at the finish line. It's a pretty neat track. Taylor raced there for the ECF.

I wish it wasn't so far away to tow, I'd love to go down that track.

It was a long hual. I'm glad I got a DP. I'ld hate to think about making that trip in my old gas powered MH.

Kinda cramped pit spaces compared to Norwalk but at neat track.

I was hoping to be going down that track today, but got rained out.

Thanks for the compliments.

I've been there when I ran the jr.. Very nice track, neat place to be. As far as the length, it is a full 1/4...if they would've made it shorter i would have run a little closer to what i did at sea level! I was more than 3 tenths slow in the 1/8 (altitude.)

Mike I can't remember the last time I had time to sit down and watch an NHRA race, let alone memorize their schedule.

Kevins440 just ruined it for me, I'm not gonna tow 8 hours to go 3 tenths slow in the 1/8.

...and if you are ever there to hear two top fuel cars make a pass then you will know why it is called

My bad, I just assumed that since you were a drag racer and followed motorsports you knew a little of the history behind one of the oldest IHRA, now NHRA, tracks.

The old duster would run 7.90 everywhere else in the 1/8th and 8.18 at Bristol. They have really fixed it up since I first went there in 1990 to the Mopar Southern Classic, won the Saturday mopar vs. the world and runner-up on Sunday two years straight with the same dial in LOL
