Update:

It is a drain. That is clear now.

The cargo lights stay on and that is causing the drain. However, after three weeks at a garage and it is still not corrected and I need advice.

cargo lights are on. Disconnect the battery so it will not drain. reconnect the battery and the cargo lights do not come back on. Drive it for a while and the cargo lights come back on.

The wires have been chased, disconnected, cleaned, reconnected and the issue appears to be gone for a while only to resurface after driving. However, one strange thing that is also going on. When the cargo light is off, the check engine light is on. When the cargo light is on, the check engine light is off.

At this point I have removed the bulbs from the cargo light. I have no idea what to do with it at this point.

Can anyone point me in a direction, I'd prefer to fix it if possible.

Cargo lights get water in them and may corrode. The light might need replacement.
