Welcome here. Alot of folks recommend the holley street demon carb. On ign there are lots or pros/cons with MSD. Myself I like an OE 70's dist (& rework the curves & more) with an HEI module & an E coil. EDIT with further checking the RPM is a square bore & the Demon is a spreadbore but there is an adapter but another carb might be better, hang loose others will advize

There is a complete MSD setup for RB motors for sale in the engine section. Digital 6AL box, pro billet distributor and coil. Seemed like a deal. I'm a fan of their distributors as it's stupid easy to change the timing curve.

On your deal using the good heads and intake you have there is no way I would put a small CFM carb., less than 750 CFM on it to choke it down I have play with, built and race BB Mopars since the early 1970s, every BB that is a RB motors liked bigger carbs, 850 to six pack to a tunnel ram with dual 750 CFM and so on Your right foot controls how much air goes through the motor at anything less than wide open throttle , correct The carb. size controls how much air and fuel goes through the motor at wide open throttle Take a look at Quick fuel, Holley as well as the other carb makers out there Not just Edelbrock I and a lot others on here have had excellent results using the Holley 950 HP carbs. Little carb, little power, big carb, big power

Cab is correct, your 440 needs at least an 850 carb. If you're going to run a 650, you better run two of them.

Welcome to Moparts, before you pick a cam, it would be best to decide on headers or manifolds, the cams would be way different between the two.

I bought the Extreme Energy Comp cam. Would headers he the best way to go? Thank you all very much. that cam is better for headers, an xe 274 maybe even a little larger ground on a 112-114 lsa would be good for stock exh manifolds for your application, IMOP.

Man, I must have read another thread? From what the poster says, he is doing not much more than a stock 440 hp motor. He has a little cam, a dual plane Performer intake, not the rpm. He does not know his compression ratio yet, but if he had bought some 5-600 dollar pistons, he would probably know about it and what the comp ratio is supposed to be. He has good heads and rockers and was probably going to use manifolds and you guys really think he needs an 850 or 950 to feed maybe 400 horses? Sounds like a recipe for a slug to me, but, hey, I am just reading what HE says he already HAS and is going to use.

Do you know what 400 HP feels like in a car that is traction limited If not you may be pleasantly surprised

Exile, don't get upset, this is just the nature of forums and different opinions. What your actual compression is is critical to making these decisions . You have picked a cam and intake that will make for a high torque street engine. You have very good heads that would be even better with more cam, a Performer rpm intake, 1-7/8" headers and then an 850 carb might be warranted. You really have not stated your goals for this build which makes it hard to make recomendations. When I made the remark about a slug, the engine won't likely be, but with an 850 double pumper on such a mild combo I believe you would be seriously overcarbed which would lead to poor drivability, throttle response and fuel mileage if that counts. I stand by my carb recommendation as your build stands right now. Also, what converter and gear ratio are you planning on running as they all have to work together.
