I just picked up a couple original go wing spoilers and was surprised to see that one had pedestals made of aluminum and one had what seems like plastic so my question is what are the differences between the go wing and gull wing spoilers over the few years they were produced.

If they have plastic and aluminum bases, it sounds to me like you acquired two different reproduction spoilers.
Original spoilers, both 70 and 71 style used the same pedestals, made of zinc (pot metal ).
My guess is both your spoilers have solid pedestals, flat on the bottom.
Original ones were hollowed on the underside and carried these Chrysler markings.

Ford used the same spoiler, but I don’t know what the base looks like.

Im not saying its not impossible that these may be aftermarket but by the looks of these spoilers and pedestals I would tend to think these are originals. The metal pedestals do have the mopar part numbers but the plastic ones do not have any numbers visible.

Ford used the same style 1970 fin but the distance between pedestals is different than Mopar on some.
Ford used two different pedestals, the tall Mopar style looking one and a shorter pedestal.
The tall one that appears similar to Mopar carries the Ford logo and cast number where Pentastar and Chrysler marking are on the one I posted.
Those pictures above are not original Mopar pedestals.
Can you post a picture of the pedestals with the numbers

I never new that Ford used the same spoiler but were they just the same style as the mopars or did they actually have the same dimensions and manufacturers.

the spoilers had the same manufacturer Chrysler Corp VS. FoMoCo (FoMoCo used several different spoilers on different cars)

1969 Cougar Eliminator 31" pedestals
1969-70 Mustang 36" pedestals
1970 Cyclone 36" pedestals
1971-73 mustang 31" or 33" ??? I don't remember
1970-71 MOPAR all 36"

the '70 Mustang spoiler & MOPAR spoiler are identical with the exception of the part number inside the pedestal

the original '69 FoMoCo spoilers were prone to splitting on the seams and warping

most reproduction "fins" are "FAT" compared to originals

Dan pretty much sums it up.
BTW the spoilers were manufactured in Wooster Ohio.
Manymopars..it appears you likely have original 70 Mopar spoiler pedestals on that pictured wing.
You initially said one had aluminum pedestals but your last picture shows not the case.
I've never seen a number on a 70 fin but if you are lucky to have an unmolested 71 wing like this one, they had this number along with vendor number and encased W near the pedestal bracket.

Thanks everybody for the info on the spoilers I decided to measure both of the spoiler fins that I purchased and found that the spoiler with the proper Chrysler pedestals measures 58" long while the other fin measures approximately 57 1/4" long now the next question did these spoilers ever come in different lengths between A,B and E bodies or were they all the same overall dimensions regardless of application.

all 1970 MOPAR spoilers are the same with the same part number for A, B & E-bodies
