I need a new rear axle bearing to replace the Strange A-1021 that has gone bad. I need to source it local if possible rather than order. It's the big ford bearing with the o-ring and seal on 1 side. Does anyone have a cross reference number for Timken, National, etc.? I have searched but not found anything. Thank you

I think that is a proprietary bearing made for the rear end/axle companies by Green or BCA. A-1021 comes with a new wedding ring as well. $38-40. Might be able to get the seal by itself.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I just ordered a set next day air from Summit as nothing was turning up correct. Thanks.

Its actually a late '50s Olds/Pontiac wheel bearing that auto part stores don't carry anymore.

Yes. It is a Ford 9" style 3.15" ball wheel bearing, with an O-ring around the outside and NO inner seal.

edit : i have several master bearing catalogs i can possibly get an interchange number for these bearings, so if anyone has an olds number, or a number from a bearing that has the manufacturer's name on it, i may be able to come up with something we all can use. [hopefully]

...or you could just call Strange, Moser, Randys or one of the bazillion places that sell their stuff and order a set that you know is correct for the weld ends and axles. shruggy

ETA..Just for $#!+s and giggles, I spent 3 minutes searching for axle bearings based on the info Dr Diff provided and came up with a 3.150 x 1.531 x 1.474 bearing. Probably Chinese, no o-ring or groove cut for an o-ring.

You found the common '60s era Ford 9" bearing. It has a smaller ID than the Olds/Pontiac version.
