Hi all, haven't posted a lot but browse a ton lol. Got a question about these systems. Just acquired the proper harness.
1) is there a hole under the dash for the rear speaker switch or do I drill since the car never had the factory 8 track player
2) where does the crossover mount?
Thanks in advance and pics would also be helpful, Rick

I'm pretty sure the '70 b-body AM 8-track was a max total of 4 speakers (three in the dash & one in the package tray)

but this leads to questions, FADER makes sense Front VS. Rear …..
work how does the BALANCE work with 3 speakers in the dash? is it set up Center VS. Outboards?
& what channel is the rear speaker on? same as Center?

paging "BigMoneyLewis", your assistance is required

The cross over box mounts to the top of the glove box liner. For some reason I can't think of the 70 rear speaker switch location exactly. I am thinking it is under the dash near the right knee of the driver. Hopefully someone has a photo.

Yep , it's either a 3 speaker , or It's a 4 speaker on the 70 B body .( The C and E bodies had 3 or 5 . )
I just went thru all this last month when we did the 8 track for a 70 Charger R/T SE sub lime Six pack car . I wish I had taken pics of all the harnesses together. it was not at all like the usual 3 and 5 speaker harnesses configurations that I am used to seeing.

It was the standard 3 speaker harness with crossover box, then the second harness actually plugged in to the radio, the 3 speaker harness plugged in to this harness , as well as the rear fader control ,
and of course the plug for the harness going to the package tray for the single rear speaker .

Thanks all that replied!!! The harness is out of a 5 speaker 68 C body but I am only gonna run the rear speakers and center front only since my dash only had the front speaker provision should work with out the out boards hooked up its just two less speakers or load

I have removed more than one of those fader switches from 70 B bodies over the years. Thought that was the location from memory. Just wasn't certain.

Kinda disappointed. I was expecting an In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida tape.
