Does anyone have any info on '329' 360 heads? Are they a decent head? I recently pulled a pair off a 91 LA 360 and am having trouble finding any info on them. The only markings I can see are the '329' cast into them between the rocker stands. Thanks!

1991 360 should have the 308 heads? Is it a roller motor?

X2 on 308 (last 3 numbers of 7.) There should be a 7 digit casting number on it. If it's not under the valve cover, it will be on the head gasket side near the intake surface.

I have a vague memory of a factory replacement head with a different part number but identical to the 308

576 - without the drilled hole under the exhaust ports.

Ok makes sense. Good heads. Can be prone to cracking. Factory springs won’t tolerate a lot of lift.

You guys are absolutely right! Thanks for that! I never noticed the tiny casting number on the head gasket side next to the intake port openings. It's a very rough casting - barely readable - but I can make out the '308' at the end. Are these heads any good?

If willing to spend a little time working on them, any idea where the largest gains are, for the time spent? Valve job, bowl blend, pushrod pinch?

They flow pretty good, exhaust side can scavenge so well that the TBI motors had some trouble with detonation in the manifolds. These were a hot head at one time and I'm sure that someone can give you a few pointers on how to wake them up. There are a few thin areas to avoid but I don't remember exactly where off the top of my head. For a street motor they shouldn't need much, I'd flux them if you'll be doing anything beyond a basic clean up.

Really the biggest advantage of those motors was the factory roller block. The heads are good but not better than the early 70s 340 stuff, but at the time you didn't have to scrounge for high mileage and high dollar used heads and sink a bunch of money into them. Make sure you tap and seal the air ports if they are open, won't take you long. There's even a video on youtube.
