Trans is out of the car, its a fresh rebuild from brewers,
While setting up the shifter i found out it has no second gear.
trans goes into all other gears, I cant shift it into 1st manually then shift into neutral, It will shift into second or at least seem like it but does not engage the gears,
Any suggestions?
I pulled the side cover but i don't quite know what Im looking for.

The rear slider is what puts the trans in 1st or 2nd gear, have you called Brewers for help yet? If not do so ASAP up
Do you know if your trans has the early side cover with the early style shift cams with the brass shift forks or the 1971 and later scissor type side cover with the steel forks?
If you push the rear slider back it is in 1st gear, if you push it towards the front of the tranny it is in 2nd gear scope
The slider should slide over both the brass synchro ring teeth and the tiny little sharp teeth on the gear to engage 2nd gear properly scope
Let us know what you see and find out wrench up

So come to find out there is a conical shaped bearing in there and under power it would not have been an issue, It just kind of wedged its self up on the taper not allowing it to slip into gear on the bench, So it was really a non issue, But the guy who looked at it for me (Very knowledgeable in Transmission repair) said that it looks like Brewers did a very nice job. Just a FYI for any one thinking about sending any work there way.
Also hope every one in Ohio and across the US is OK after the string of bad weather.

NP833 trannys have two type of bearings in them, needles and ball bearing, no conical bearings confused shruggy
The brass synchro rings have a taper on them with grooves on the inside of them that acts as a friction brake to stop the gear on the output shaft when you push the slider forward onto them so the slider will engage both locking it onto the output shaft once you let the clutch pedal out work shruggy
IHTHs up

Glad you found the (non) issue. If you have brass shift forks and are planning for some hard use, I would recommend replacing them with steel shift forks out of a scissor side cover. Cut the nubs off of the very end.

You are correct It was the brass synchro ring bearing that hung up on the taper.
