I found an original set of gills and put them against a repo pair.I think they were painted black one way and argent the other way. What color argent were they, dark or light?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

The repros look to be painted dark gray metalflake.

Neither, the texture is in the part, they were painted argent silver (dull aluminum matches virtually perfectly). And yes, the gill flats were black. Also, the front valance insert is painted the same argent silver as the rocker gills.

Getting ready to paint mine and have read that the rally wheel silver is correct/close. Is the black supposed to flat or satin?

Rallye wheel silver(Argent) is as close as your going to get, I usually use satin black for the fin's backside (it's going to lose shine as it ages, as well as some dulling from over-spray as I'll explain) I spray the black first with the pcs standing vertical and the backside of the blade/fins facing upwards and only apply/spray paint in one direction, downward strokes/top to bottom, after the black drys, then rotate the pcs 180 degrees, again standing vertically, with the now painted black backsides of the fins facing downward, now apply the silver, again only spray from top to bottom, this way the paint "falls" in one direction only, if you've done it correctly the pcs will now be silver with just the backsides of the blades/fins having a black recess, use a spray gun rather than spray cans, as you'll have better control of the spray fan width, and you'll use better quality mat'ls, and you'll have a better professional finish in the end

Mike

I have beem thinking about adding these to my Barracuda. It looks like they are held on by screws, were they a self tapping metal screw or something different?
