This motor been together for 19 years with hundreds of trips down the quarter mile and thousands miles on the street.
This spring I took it out to get some fuel moving and one of the adjustable rocks came loose and the pushrod was just laying in there.
The pushrod beside it was the bent one. I don’t know but think the loose pushrod some how bent the one next to it. Don’t think the valve is bent but will check it. What’s your thoughts on this?

Check your valve springs to see if you have a few weak ones

The loose adjuster allowed the loose pushrod to fall into the motor bending the other pushrod shruggy scope
I've had that happen also whiney shruggy

Ok this is a hydraulic roller. Could this damage the lifter? I had adjustable rocker problem in the past and also had the lifter top break off a took my cam out. Back then there was a adjuster heat treatment problem. The adjuster kept breaking. They warranty the cam and lifters. I only ran it about a mile to get it home this time. Am I just gun shy or should I pull intake off and look at the lifter for cracks?

Did you ever have the motor or car on the dyno?

If not, I’d suggest you do......... see if you can nail down when the valve float/lifter unhappiness occurs, and keep the motor below that point.
With a hyd roller(or hyd flat tappet)....... it often occurs at a lower rpm than you might suspect.

Running the motor up into the rpm range where things get unhappy usually results in things happening like what you’re experiencing.

For some reasons the lock nut came loose on the rocker. This is why the pushrod came out. Don’t know why after so long that the nut broke loose? I only ran it up to like 4K rpm and it pull hard to 6500+but to be honest I have not run it at the track for years. I had two pushrod and put them in today and it fired right up!

I am going to pull the intake and would like to replace that lifter if I can get just one form Crane cam. Don’t want to buy 8 of them to get one. I would sleep better if I can replace it! I am going to double nut the adjuster bolt. Don’t want to have it happen again and don’t want to lose my motor over it! I know one thing for sure if the lifter breaks it over quick!

I wouldnt double nut them.. 19 years is pretty damn good for not having
the valve covers off.. you dont need the extra weight on the valve train..
you can buy a pair of rockers .. they have a tie bar for each pair

Some of these cameras that hook up to your phone or laptop send pretty clear pictures and are really cheap now. It could save you some time and money and answer all you questions.

I'm thinking with the valve cover off he could sneak it down in the valley and see everything.

Good luck trying to find lifters that are the same as what you bought 19 years ago.

I looked the part number up and they are still available. You wouldn’t think they would be different and have the same part number.

I don’t care about a little weight on the valve train,I don’t want them to come loose again. I think the last time I had them off was 2001. I don’t drive it much at all. Maybe 1k a year but back in the early 2000 it was my only Cuda so it got out more back then and that when I raced it!

Crane was bought out sometime back.. its hard to say for fact if they
are truely the same without a call or measuring them.. also being that
you are running a hyd roller your springs would be pretty weak and
adding any weight would be a challenge to your springs.. but ask
around

You may be on to something here. I will see if my springs are to heavy for a roller. I still have my paperwork from when I had my heads done. They are Crane springs part number 99098.

19 years ago Crane made their own roller lifters in house.

They have been sold at least 3 times since then, and have not had lifter manufacturing capabilities for quite a while.

My friends and I took a tour of the crane facility back in the 1970’s while on a vacation. There was a little old lady straightening pushrods with a hammer and dial indicator. Lol

They are Crane springs part number 99098.

99098 is the part number for 3/8 7* valve locks.

I was looking at the wrong part number. Thanks for letting me know! The spring part number is 99890
