Thanks to the gracious offer of a couple PCMs from member GarageDodge I'll have a couple OBD2 PCMs. After looking at the wiring diagrams and pin outs from the 2001 PCM and harness as compared to my '93 OBD1 Ram Charger I believe I can splice the OBD2 connectors into the OBD1 harness and add the data link connector and downstream O2 sensor. I think the downstream O2 can be tuned out though.
I plan to do this all into the Ram Charger first and get it up and running before it all gets swapped into my '74 crew. It is a stick truck and won't have speed control so that is all stuff I won't have to worry about. Right now I'm about $150 into the harnesses I got from the donor truck. If I would have looked into this further I probably could have just cut off the 3 PCM connectors and the data link connector.
Any way I'll try to post up progress and problems. If anyone that has done this swap has any tips, tricks or warnings please post them up.

Many of the circuits even have the same wire colors. It looks like my biggest issue is the OBD1 has a 8 volt supply for the cam, crank and vehicle speed sensors that the OBD2 doesn't have. The OBD2 just has 2, 5 volt supplies. Not sure how big of an issue that is going to be though. I might have to change those 3 sensors to the OBD2 style. I'll have to wait until I get the full wiring diagrams. I only have the PCM pin out charts at this point. At least I'll have an extra PCM if I smoke one.

Und vhat ees purpose ov dis experiment? To be able to tune for a cam, intake, and headers and keep the factory injection system that I'm very familiar with and has easy parts availability. I got the service manuals yesterday from Geno's Garage. Those guys have awesome service.

Well as far as I can determine it's 41 wires to splice together. I will need to add about 6 wires and will also need a heated O2 sensor. My plan is to just butt connector the wires to make sure it works before I solder and heat shrink everything together. I hope to start next weekend.

It runs! Fired right up and actually runs better than before. I'll try to post up what all the conversion entails tomorrow. It's just temporary right now with butt connectors and I still need to add a few wires and the data link connector. The A/C compressor isn't turning on but I think I have the fix for that. I don't know if the speedo works yet but I should know tomorrow. It charges and every thing else seems to be working at this point so I'm pretty happy with it right now.

OK, got the AC compressor working by adding one wire which I'll document later and the speedo works as well. A note on the JTEC connectors, they are labeled in the FSM as C1, C2 and C3, they are all 32 way connectors. If you are looking at the PCM, connectors facing you and at the top the connectors are labeled right to left, not left to right. So C1 is on the right, C2 is in the middle and C3 is on the left.
To document this conversion I'm going to post the JTEC connector number then the cavity numbers underneath on the left. The wire color and circuit, then the corresponding SBEC 60 way connector cavity on the right with the wire color only if it's different. Once you remove the plastic covers you can see where the cavities are numbered at the end of each row, this includes the 60 way connector as well so it's pretty easy to figure out. Just take your time, do one wire at a time and double check that you are cutting the correct wires.

To finish off the data link connector you'll need fused B+ to cavity 16 and grounds to cavities 4 and 5.
I don't know if the data link connector works yet, I don't have a scanner at home. Hopefully I'll remember to bring one home from work tomorrow.
Also be sure to get the VIN from the donor truck if you want to flash your PCM.
I used a PCM from a 99 5.2 automatic 4WD truck but since the 74 is a stick I expect it to set a few codes. If you want to use a RH trans you'll probably need to use switches for the O/D and TCC or the other methods with pressure switches and such. The JTEC PCM does have outputs for O/D and TCC but without it able to read the governor pressure sensor and output sensor I don't know if it will work. I don't know if they ground the solenoids or feed them by drivers so research that before trying.
Those wires are

The data link connector works just fine. I had a couple transmission solenoid codes (not unexpected) a fuel pump relay control code (also not unexpected) a ROM ID code (?, not a big deal) and a couple others I don't recognize. I was able to clear them but since I don't have a MIL I'm not worried about any of them.

Ran into the solenoid codes when I did the 5 spd. conversion in the Durango. Couldn't find anyone to reprogram the PCM. HotRodDave recommended a PCM from a '00-'01 Ram w/ manual transmission. Look every once in a while to try and find one but no joy. Thinking of calling one of the reman companies on ebag and explaining what I have done. Hate to blow $200 on a reman PCM that still has the MIL on. Being you used a '99 you may have better luck with a manual PCM. Tim

Well since I don't have a check engine light the codes don't really bother me. Once in awhile a stick truck shows up in the local pick a part yard but you have to jump on them as soon as they hit the yard. So if I can score one that would be great but otherwise I'm not going to spend $200+ for a reman.

You'll probably run into the same thing I have. Appears to go into fuel cut at about 4200 rpm due to the codes. IIRC, in the thread I found elsewhere about the swap the OP ran into the same problem. He did the manual swap into an R/T Dakota.

Tim Is it because of the codes or something else. What did you guys do about the neutral safety switch? There is a park/neutral position sense terminal in the C1 connector (cavity 6 BK/WT) that I didn't hook up. I need to look through the schematics to see how that is wired but I'm thinking if you grounded the wire from the starter relay to the auto's neutral safety switch the PCM would think it's in park/neutral all the time and cut the fuel. This was something I've thought about thanks for the heads up. More research is needed because to my thinking there isn't any other reason for the PCM to know the vehicle is in park/neutral, but who knows. You might try snipping that wire and see what happens.

I grounded it so it would start. But you might be onto something. I've been meaning to wire the ground through the clutch switch anyway so my cruise will work again. Tim

See that is probably why your cruise isn't working either, the PCM thinks it is in park (ok so there's another reason for park/neutral sense). I bet if you snip that wire the cruise would work but the engine would run away when the clutch is disengaged.

Took me a while to figure out why the cruise quit working after the swap but eventually it came to me. One of the codes I have is in reference to it, IIRC (being in N or P over 20 mph or something along those lines). Anyway, my thinking is it will disengage the cruise when I push in the clutch, with the PCM thinking I have gone to P or N. Buttoning up the dash this weekend from putting in new blower and resistor, and bypassing the amp. While the column is down I plan to wire in the clutch switch. I'll let you know if it works or blows. Tim

That park/neutral sense wire does go to the speed control so I'm thinking you should have it working properly with the clutch switch in place.
