I have a set of CPPA 2 inch headers with iron heads on my R/B block. I was looking at my #6 spark plug and it doesn’t look like I can use a set of angle plug head with these headers. Has anyone come across this problem?

I think you can put a small dent in that pipe like Hooker and the newer Pro Part headers have to accommodate the angle plug heads scope hammer wrench grin

are the 2" CPPA's the same as the TTI's? I have 2" TTI's and angle plugs are easier to maintain than when I was using straight plug iron heads.

I have an older set of the 2" CPPA headers that I got in the mid 80's on a 440 block with EZ-1 heads. #6 tube had to be dinged a little and I used an angled plug boot, not the usual 90 degree boots, on that plug. So far it hasnt burned the plug boot after several years of running.

Thanks for the information. I got these headers new back in the 90's and they are in really good shape. I guess i am going to have to take a hammer to them and clearance them a bit. Thanks again

I bought these 2" CPPA headers in 1996 and I did not dent any tubes as all the plugs are easy to do as long as the eng is not hot. We use RPM Eddy heads with the CPPA headers. Ron

The only plug that looks like i might have a problem with is the Number 6 cylinder. I hope i am wrong and it will clear, if not i have a few different hammers to make it work.
Now i have to figure out which head to go with.
My iron heads have been on three different motors and they have not been apart since the mid 90's and are leaking oil down the guide. I think it's about time and stepped up to a better head for my combo.
Thanks again.

You might want to use a 3/8 drive impact spark plug socket for dimpling that header pipe hammer twocents

just did a head swap and no 6 fits better because the angle moves away from that tight tube.

My problem isn't the number six tube, it's the number 2 tube that comes over the six tube and make a down turn and is right next to the six plug. Maybe i got a first run on these headers because i have yet to see a set like what i have. Just my luck, Lol

I am sorry as I just realized you said iron heads. I posted about the RPM heads on my boys Dart. But if you run the RPM or any aluminum head with angled plugs it gives more room with TTI and CPPA headers. And you will also be using the small 5/8 plugs. So if you go with the RPM or another angled plug aluminum head you should be fine. Good luck , Ron

2 in CPPAs on my 65 440.They are some of the first they made.6 is a real pain to get to.Even with iron heads they were a pain.same with the scatter shield and starter wires.I use taylor Spiro pros for 440 that are cut to length.Ran the last set for 15 years and never burnt one.New set is on at least 3 years now.Only reson i replace the old set was they were old and nasty looking.Rocky

Yes the Number six plug is a pita to get to and get the wire on as well. I have never burnt a plug wire either. My header look like they are new which surprises me after all the years and miles on them.
