I've used a bunch of stock 440 forged steel cranks to make a 3.91 stroke motors in both RB and B blocks, they make really good power.
That involves having the crankshaft grinder offset grind the crank to BB Chevy 2.200 rod journal sizes and using a 7.100 long BB Chevy H beam or I beam forges steel rod with a custom or shelf piston with the .990 wrist pins to get the compression ratio you want
I shoot for 9.5 to 1 or less with my iron head builds no matter what C.I. and 10.5 to 1 or less on my aluminum head builds
On your deal with a decent set of 906 type heads with the bigger 2.14 intake valves and the 1.81 exhaust valves with a little port cleaning up you make well north of 500 HP on pump gas, been there done that many times
On your deal use the 1967 crankshaft and balancer and have the rotating assembly neutral balanced
good luck, let us know your results
