Yes use copper & take care with the fittings as you dont want oil leaking onto your carpet. You might make a slight loop or bend on the eng side of the firewall side to allow for eng torqueing over time (to not work harden the copper). Might not be an issue but my OCD says it could be!

I've always used the nylon tubing and have never had a problem. The problem with copper is that over time it can crack due to vibration. That's why its not advisable to use copper for fuel lines like they used to do in the '50s on hot rods. If you follow the directions for the install the nylon tubing will work just fine.

Braided 4AN is a good alternative. This or a -3 AN would be my preference as well. I use these pre-made lines on my brakes and like them a lot.

I am partial to Stewart Warner...You can get stainless lines that dont work harden like copper will. Tim

What is the problem with nylon tubing provided by the people who manufacture and sell these gauge kits? Strength? Durability? Reliability? It seems to me that a real problem that presents a safety issue--which hot motor oil spraying the interior of a car and the driver would surely be--would be a liability risk for the manufacturers.
I've never tried a test with copper tubing vs nylon tubing for mechanical properties, but I'll bet tensile strength, fatigue resistance, resistance to chemical attack, etc. would show nylon to be clear winner.
Heat. Placing a nylon tubing against a hot exhaust header would not be a good idea, and same for a copper or steel tubing. The latter two might not melt, but a competent designer/installer takes care to avoid those chafing situations where fuel/oil/hydraulic/electric/hot compressed air, etc. are concerned
I see all kinds of oil lines on ebay, prices from seven or eight bucks to nearly a hundred bucks
"evil energy AN10 Nylon Black Braided Oil/Fuel Hose 1Meter+AN 10 Straight Hose End 90 Degree Swivel Fitting Hose End Fuel Adapter Rated 4.8/5 based on 16 customer reviews 4.8 (16 votes)" $9.68
"Autometer 3228 - # 4 AN SS Braided Oil Fuel Pressure Gauge Hose Tubing Line Kit Item Information Condition: New Quantity: More than 10 available / 9 sold Price: US $84.75"
"Stainless braided hose" what's the liner material? Is it heat-proof? does the stainless braid perfectly insulate the liner from heat damage?
So there. My $0.02
