Having a freshly built 440 i am having an issue with clatter with my CompCam hydraulic roller lifters. The lifters bleed off quickly and I wondered if anyone else has had problems with their lifters and how they resoved it? I have a high pressure oil pump. The solid pushrods were also bought from CompCams. We have checked everything possible, including another oil pump, and the clatter still occurs. CompCams said the lifters oil through the lifter band but not sure how that would happen as there are no oiling holes. Educate me please.
So there are no holes at all on the body of the lifter? Are you positive you do not have solid lifters? Some Comp hydraulic cams have aggressive ramp profiles that will always make noise no matter what you do.

If there are no holes in the body, how is the hydraulic lifter getting an oil supply? I don't know if these are the Comp hydraulic rollers you are using but I see a hole.

Mine has a Comp retrofit roller kit in it. XR280HR. Sounds like a sewing machine. I was told it's normal. Haven't had any problems with the motor and revs to 6k without any issues.
