My 383 is being rebuilt, it was a 2 barrel, single exhaust engine. I will be using HP exhaust manifolds and dual exhaust system which I bought from Accurate. We are using a mild cam with as far as I know similar to RR specs. I was thinking of using a Eldelbrock Performer manifold 2186. I am confused on what size and make carb to use. Id like something easy to setup and tune. Any help, opinions anyone can provide is appreciated. Thanks

Based on what you have, the manifold is not a bad choice and I would put an Edelbrock 600 AFB on it. Easy enough to tune and plenty of cfm for this combo.

Harder to find these days, but a nice used 750 Carter AFB would be my choice.

Always the first question to ask, what kind of use will the car see? Daily driver, Hi way driving, stop light racing, 1/4 mile racing?

Welcome aboard! I would suggest any dual plane intake (its a non wearing item/if the side flanges are flat/good idea to have it checked) that you can get a good deal on & an Eddy 1406 (600 CFM) & get the strip kit for it. I see em regularly on www.forabodiesonly.com for $150 ish used.

A 600 sounds good. I like and original 68-69 383 AVS over and edelbrock.

Nice that it's a SportSat and not another clone GTX or Road Runner.
AVS on the Eddie would be my pick, 2nd would be an AFB. Edelbrock makes an AVS but IIRC it's 800CFM. 600CFM as noted is plenty for a stockish 383 in your scenario, so the Eddy 1406 would be good.
You might have to do something about an air cleaner base depending on what your plans are there.

Go with the 650 Street Demon.

This review is for the 750, but the 650 is the same carb save for the primaries. And the test is done by Steve Dulcich.

https://www.hotrod.com/articles/street-demon-750-carb-review/

Here is a back to back dyno test between a 650 CarterBrock and a 650 Street Demon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNAlVFtUFL4

And there are many, many more tests on Youtube on the Street Demon. The CarterBrocks are decent enough carbs, but their tunes are terribly out dated. The Street Demons have a very good tune for mild street cars and have several important design features that the CarterBrocks do not.

Do some research and I bet you'll find that the Street Demon is simply a better OOTB carb for your application.

Street Demon would be on my short list to consider. The Performer is spreadbore ready. I would consider the 750, but you wouldn't go wrong with the 650.

If you don't bother to tune any carb OOTB for your setup why bother at all? May as well sell it and drive a KIA

I'd recommend a performer RPM intake. The performer is considered a stock replacement, but the RPM makes more power and torque pretty much every RPM you'd be driving it. For carbs, I just bought Summit's brand 600 carb. Has great features and great reviews, and runs good on my stuff totally out of the box, I only adjusted the idle speed.

This is incorrect.

Its not even close to stock. The power cross over between the Performer and the RPM is probably 400 hp. The OP won't even be close to that.

My biggest problem with the edelbrocks is their tendency to flood when warm / hot. It is A known issue that as been around for quite a while. Otherwise they are a good carb as are the others twocents beer

Maybe look around for a used DP4B intake....it ranked very good on a intake test done by a member a bunch of years ago. Pair it with a good ole Holley 3310 750 VS carb. I ran that combo on a 383 with the 484 cam in my B'cuda for years. Worked good!

A street dominator would be another good one & they are fairly cheap.
