Yes. "All fuel tanks (and batteries) must be isolated from the drivers compartment by a firewall, completely sealed to prevent any fuel from entering the drivers compartment" Fuel, fumes, fire is what we're concerned with. Minimum .024 steel or .032 aluminum. It is supposed to be fitted and made to isolate the trunk from the cab, not just be some half a$$ piece of metal stuck in there for looks. You can still put the factory seats in there, but from a safety standpoint, a factory seat back will not do the job.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Ok thanks for the replies guys, I figured I needed to put some metal in to close it off but couldn’t find it explicitly spelled out in the rule book. General Regulations - 1:5 Fuel Systems - Tanks. And 8:1 Batteries.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.
