I have a 99 2500 Diesel Dodge with a very dim passenger side head light.

I figured it was a bad bulb and seeing as the original lenses were in terrible yellow condition, it was a good excuse to replace both units which come with new bulbs. So now I have 2 new headlights and the passenger side is still very dim.

The Hi-beam indicator stays on regardless even tho the left light will go hi or low. Right side doesn't seem to change.

It's a Canadian truck with daytime running lights if that is relevant.

I've been told that there is 12v constant to the light and that the multifunction switch controls the ground for the hi or low side.

Just looking to avoid a major search and destroy mission back thru the wiring harness if there is a most likely cause like the multifunction switch itself or a particular ground point to check.

Bad ground is usually the culprit, also why the hi beam indicator is on.

Pretty sure Chrysler switches the voltage not the ground. A meter on the working headlight connections and a helper will answer that for you.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

iagree i as well. look closely into the bulb connector. sometimes it's hard to see in there, but when seeing the high beam indicator on the dash dimly lit, almost every time, i have found that connector to be the problem, either the internal tabs being corroded [and it doesn't take much !], or the wire at the connector being cracked, causing the wire to wick in moisture, turning the wire green under the insulation.

If the back of the headlight plug is accessible. Grab a jump wire and jump the headlight plug ground wire to a ground. See if the light gets brighter.

If it does, you know where the problem lies.
