I have on loan a Wiilys adjustable plate throttle stop, It does`t fit on my Indy intake as it is too high for my linkage. I am going to have the intake milled down an inch so i can use it. I have been using a Moroso bolt style stop for 10 years now and have been pretty successful with it. i currently slow the car down to 11.50 from 10.70s. I am hearing conflicting stories about how much the Willys stop can slow the car down. Before going thru milling the intake I am wondering if it will help me. I am mostly looking for more MPH as with my current setup my secondaries are barely opening thus killing my mph , i go 11.50 at 114 mph. Any body use one or an EZ plate system? that has some results? Thanks

We have used the plate style on three cars. They work. I think the biggest thing you will find over the bolt type stop is throttle response. That was my issue with the bolt style. I hit the "over center" point where I made the car undrivable at the tree. I have yet to do that with a plate style.

The only issue I had with the plate style was on my modman 2x4 setup. It just wasnt as predictable on an open plenum intake with vacuum secondaries ( air doors )

The most recent combo we ran it on was a 11.25 index NSS car. It ran 119 mph using the plates.

People seem to like the Willys plate. I also see the EZ Plate system getting some good reviews. Slowing the car down nearly a full is quite a bit. I would call the Willys and EZ Plate people and see what they have to say. I see Willys will be at PRI. Great place to make contacts.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

As for how much it will slow you down... As much as you want.

I regularly slowed my car to 10.50 from 10.teens and was a very raceable combination. I slowed it back to 7.0 for an index race as well. This is in a footbrake car that weighed 3600 plus lbs.

If I were to do it again I think I would go the willys route over the ez plate. The reason is you can measure and determine how much of a turn equals how much et. Then you have a linear change database. With the EZ plates, it wasn't that easy.

I found a log book page at work.
looking at the hole sizes I was using, I would say a willys setup would fairly easily kill a second going from 1.750 down to 1.000. Mainly because its not a round hole with any taper.
