Are original 1970-71 Challenger Cuda convertible tops date coded? If so where would the date code be located.

I have never seen any date coding.
Vinyl manufacturers typically run a date-code wheel that imprints the logo and date on the backside of vinyl. If anything were ever to show up it might be there, but as the backside of the top is visible, they probably removed that.

I agree. I don't claim to be an expert on convertible top materials, but a few years ago I was very much involved in the special run of one batch (for a vintage GM musclecar) so I can share from that experience. From that project I found out the top material was not made from just one piece, it was actually two pieces bonded together. There was the outer vinyl, and this fabric was made first, but as a secondary process there was a secondary inner liner material (which could of course be an entirely different color) that is then bonded to the underside of the outer vinyl. So the "backside" you see on the top isn't really a backside at all, it's actually the topside of the liner. I assume this assembly process applied to Chrysler top materials, and if so then it stands to reason that there would be no datecode visible from either side. At least I've never seen one.

Thanks for the replies! The only date code I could find was on the rear glass.

Ken,
I have seen date codes on original convertible top boots and the glass, but never on the convertible top material itself.
