DONT remember the rim size (14" steel wheel I think) flipped over - the trans bell sits in that then a cheapie jack stand to hold up the tail housing ' probably did 500 727s and 904s that way Can't say that's not functional, but I was thinking something more intended for the purpose and space-efficient.

Andy - That's a generous offer. I suspect that the front tab(s) that fixture mounts to is also the tab(s) that had to be removed from the case to fit the CSR form-fit trans shield I use. I'll check and see if my memory is right or not, though. I also have the style that bolts to the front of the case which will work when the ears are removed. I'll snap a picture to show you how it works. It is a new product I was working on so you can test it for me.

Brad maybe this is too simple/not what you are after but what about just bolting (2) legs on the front/& as said a stand under the tail?

I made one out junk I had laying in the garage 30 years ago. 2 pieces of 3/8 rod, 1 piece of 1/4" rod, 2-5/8 bolts, and a welder. You weld bolts 90 degees to the end of the rod, bolt to bell of trans, bend a 90 about 6" down, another 90 about 14" back, then cross your 2 rod and weld to catch the rear. Weld a piece of 1/4 or 3/8 rod across the lower rear of the rods so it does not spead and its done. Do not weld rod across front, that way rods bend and it works for big and small blocks. Ghetto I know, but never saw a need to upgrade.

I bought this transmission holder from Summit and bolted it to one of my old engine stands that I didn't trust for holding engines. It works great. Untitled by John Cadamore, on Flickr

Plywood, 2x4 and angle iron drilled for both bolt patterns (SB & BB). Been using this for years.
