I had the Dorman ball and trunnion boot number in my shop and now can't find it.

Its for the trunnion style drive shaft in my '63. Anybody got it filed away? I tried a search for it and that didn't work out.

Thanks

63 what? there are two sizes of B&T,

Brewer's has the big style, mopar pn 2275514.

But I don't see a Dorman listing, unless it was a repurposed CV joint boot.

It's the bigger size, and it is a re-purposed boot.

BTW, years ago I put on a new mopar boot and it cracked open within a month.

As a side question, has anybody actually gotten the cross pin out of the shaft when re-building this? I tried this present driveshaft on the press again, and its not ever coming out. Same result as the last shaft I tried on years ago.

Back in 88 I had to rebuild that joint on my 64 300, the housing was scored up. We got it out but I will be danged if I remember anything difficult about it. Of course I was in the service and we had retired machinist's working at the hobby shop who grew up with these cars and knew the tricks.

Got my stuff from Andy Bernbaum, https://www.oldmoparts.com/parts-universal-joint.aspx, kit Q-103 (I think) is the one. Not sure if they are NOS, might want to ask.

That’s one of the biggest reasons for the boot tearing - too much grease - especially in a high speed vehicle.

Well, I certainly didn't know about the "too much grease". I probably did that.

Still, I'd rather have one of the new "plastic" or rubber type CV boot to put on this.

Replaced the one on my 57 when I had it from NAPA.It was leather and had hooks to close it.Was on for like 5 years and pretty much driven all the time even in winter.IIRC I have a NOS one in the garage. Its for the 57 also but fits others,Think its a complate setup.Saving it for my 65 as it still has the oe one.Have another shaft from my kids 62 300 also.Rocky

OK, is the kit listed at www.robertsmotorparts.com any good? I don't know how to link a page, you will have to look for it. its listed as "an all trunion kit". Gene

I ordered an ATV CV boot from a size chart. I'll let you know how it fits.

So now, in doing a search for this topic, the Dorman number comes up, 03680, fits large and small with trimming.

I got this from ALL BALLS RACING in PA for about the same cost.
