There is a street car shoot out coming up in a couple weeks at my local track, if the weather holds I'd like to run it again. The last one I ran the track was prep nil and I suppose this one will be no better. In the last one I made it to the second round but my car spun at the hit, I peddled it and pulled into second and 60-80' out it got stupid and almost crossed the center line before I got it caught up and the race was lost as I couldn't run my opponent down and he went on to win the class.
If my car spins at the hit what adjustments do I make to the shocks? I have some ballast I can add if needed to help keep it hooked and I can leave in second gear to help tame it on the hit. I'm on a 325/50 MT radial and have Viking double adjustables on all four corners, Cal Tracs, monos and stock front suspension. Also I was foot braking at the first event, the trans brake resulted in instant smoke.
Any suggestions, advice?
Thanks, Justin

will you be getting any test hits at the track?
walk the starting line if you can, see if there are any bald spots or rubber peeling.
Leaving in second will help a lot
Remember the concept of hooking a radial, Smash the tire and hold it there. So loose on compression and tight on rebound.
In the front, try to remember, a lot of travel with a tighter shock works well to keep the front transferring for a longer time. Some times hitting as limiter too soon upsets the tire and makes it spin.

I've found that you can hit a radial harder than a bias ply. If I use the same settings for a radial with a bias ply slick on the rear it wads up way too much. All due respect to N20 Monster but I thought it would be loose on rebound and tight on compression to hit the tyre hard and hold it??
