Would they be any different for a '68 Road Runner than the '68-up ones are?
The tag I'm looking at looks & reads exactly like my St Louis '68 Road Runner.

A 68 tag will look the same. All plants used the abc format.

1969 model year is when the layout changes and Lynch Road tags start to look different..

Seeking:

1969 St. Louis plant VINs, SPD, and VONs.
Over 2,000 thanks to you!

Thanks. None of the decoders I could find were clear on that.
Wonder why Lynch Rd decided to re-invent the tag for the '69s?

Mopar tags all changed in 1969. Lynch Rd did it a bit different than the rest.

Yeah, I'm well aware of that, just always wondered why the Lynch Rd variation. And whether there was a variation pre-'69 model year.

I think that the '69 Lynch Road fender tags only have Body-In-White or paint necessary information on them, and no options like radio, trim, etc. About the only option I don't know why it would be necessary for BIW to have on a metal tag that won't burn from welding sparks and can still be read if painted (the reason for raised characters) is the axle/ratio? Everything else on a LR fender tag relates to gates, firewall type (A/C, heater) floor pan for bench seat or buckets, radiator support size, engine for K-frame, paint color interior and exterior. Things that could be burned or painted over in the early production process are not on the tag like the the other assembly plants???

But for a BIW you need to know if it has a radio so you put the right fender on it

Good one......BUT the fenders are bolted on and I thought bolted on away from the welding where the large broadcast sheet on the front of the car would be used to put the fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid, etc. I think they even drill the emblem and callout holes, etc. in the fenders, doors, hoods, trunk lid as needed when they are moved to those areas away from BIW.
