Alot of places they just make themselves known and folks clear out, some times they watch.

Ive had a OD Officer friend ride with me and watch on many occasions.

As long as no one is impaired there are some who understand its not the end of all things and in this day and age its just clean honest fun.

Ive also been told the better places to run from a LEO and the best time to do it, one being Sunday afternoons during NFL time.

A problem is only as big as some want to make out of it.

Both of the shot angles show the Mississippi cars shift light coming on a couple of times meaning that since they were both anxious to get the ahead almost trading paint in doing so, he had the Mo-Jo juice on to loose with the goose pedal too soon. Combined with what looks to be a moist black tar top surface, nothing but a crash would follow.
What I mostly saw as a annexed miracle in this day and time is the help of people for the driver from all ethnic back grounds finding common ground. That was the magic with Big Willie's (RIP) concept back in the 60's and 70's.

Got in an argument with a guy about this incident.
He told me, "it could have happened at the track too"tsk No it wouldn't. The guy didn't even have a helmet, let alone the rest of the safety equipment required.
I would think even the outlaw tracks require helmetsshruggy

I don't know about anybody else, but I wouldn't race using trees or light posts for the guard rail.

The favored spot out of over 50 spots here in this congested city was "The Connecting highway"
Hands down if something went Murphy, the only two people and things that were affected were the two drivers themselves and their cars along with the adjacent 35 foot walls. All the spectators were safely looking from atop on street level. By far my favorite of haunts.
Guys should watch the weather patterns more often, even at a safe and sanctioned place.

Yes, BIG Willie from the brotherhood. He single handedly defused many a potential ethnic meltdown by bringing every concern and everyone to the neutrality of the starting line.
Everyone took that leap of faith and nothing else petty mattered.

I need to look but I think I still got some pics I took along time ago. I knew it was a wing car but thought it was a bird for some reason.

Some interesting times back then.

Two pages and not one comment that it was Mustang? LOL

It was a street racing punk in a Mustang that took us out while driving home from the track a couple years ago, he hit us hard enough that it moved the Dakota on the trailer.

I don't much care for any street racing, anywhere. But that's just me.

I thought at one time he had 2 wing cars, plus a '68 Barracuda with a Daytona wing on it.

Yes he had two wing cars and a converted Cuda carrying a wing and huge "Street race" wheel well flares out back to accommodate the large slicks poking out the sides.
One of his Daytona cars of which his Brother had in storage just sold at auction a year or so ago I believe.
One of the wing cars got crushed in a accident as well.

Anyway, I've seen my share of backyard race cars here that I wouldn't race against even if they were lined up in a lane across the country. I mean, half cut chassis to clear big slicks, plastic pvc tubing painted to look like roll cages to fool the track officials, NOS bottles strapped down in the trunk with duct tape, you name it.
Whether it be a "Stang" or a Buick or a Mopar high on the ladder of finesse and craftsmanship or lower then Freddie Kruger's basement construction, some people just don't care about the weather, the road surface or even how a certain race haunt could affect innocent people.

Accidents don’t happen at the track? A helmet would have prevented the crash?

Nitrous bottle ratchet strapped to the seat... tracks are so safe, they wouldn’t let this happen....

Any pis or vids of these ratted out taped together cars? There are far more well built cars then junk, just like at the track. Dont we hear people complain on here about the junk at the track, the oildown delays ect... some like to cherry pic.

Must be lack of money, pride or ? because the guys that run around here actually have very well built cars, more heads up type builds vs budget bracket cars, but they are more or less track cars that do go through tech but just more raced on the street then track.

Everyone runs a aftermarket block, a good trans with a shield or blanket, proper cage, most have fire suppression at least in the engine bay if not inside as well and either a aftermarket 9 inch or some sort of 60.

I do see alot of goofy junk on youtube vids, just never first hand.

Really the most unsafe two in our group are hellcats, simply as they are not caged. And thats not a dig on hellcats, the owners just dont want cages.

Which really gets me thinking, hey look at all the hellcat vids on the web, what really do they have thats gonna save there ass at a crash at 140. They would peal open just like any other new rig. But no one here is talking about there stupidity.

What was the ford stang in the 90-s that was like the first modern factory like race car, the stang svt, I dont think it was that but it had no back seat, no ac... hmm have to look at google.

I live approx a hour north of I70 and approx an hour south of I80 and we run on a state highway thats four lanes of concrete with corn on both sides and at times has nearly zero traffic, anyone heading east/west would be welcomed by our little group here, hell id even put some up for a night and cook them breakfast.
