Hello! Help.. with my decision to buy?
or not to buy?
Wanted help with a 426-wedge running engine early 1966 for sale!
Want to swap with my 383- engine (blown) in my 70 Cuda
Wanted to know difference details of engine, good, the bad or OK! to swap !
Originally was thinking of swapping for 69-70;s 440.. that I am still loo up king for?
But came across this early 1966 - 426 wedge,,
Would appreciate any ones input..!
Thank you so much..
Sonny

More than likely that motor came out of a Chrysler or Imperial, not a 1966 Dodge or Plymouth street wedge tsk
That being said it will be a low compression, under 9.25 to 1 ratio, low intake manifold and a small AFB, nothing to get excited over unless it was a OEM M.W. replacement warrenty (SP?) casting that they stuck in a car to move the block out of inventory, the casting number on the side of the block will tell you that scope
If you have the choice between that motor and a Hi Po 375 HP 440 out of a 1967 to 1971 B body buy the 440 up twocents

Not very many B426 blocks floating around in the world. The 440 was introduced in 1966 and the 426 wasn't even listed in a lot of the sales literature.

All depends on how original it is and what you want to do with the engine. If it is all original it might be worth some money to a collector. If it has been modified then it might be perfect for you.

Not so Andy, the 426 M.W. motors, 415 and 425 HP, where offered in the beginning of 1963 and stopped being made and sold in the spring of 1964 whiney
The 365 HP street 426 wedges where offered in the beginning of the 1964 model year and also in the 1965 Dodges and Plymouth in B bodies. I have heard of some 1965 and 1966 C body, Chryslers, Dodges and Plymouth along with some Imperials having the 426 street motors in them also instead of the Lo Po 413 C.I. motors confused
The M.W. blocks had a different casting number on them than the street 426 W did, although I have heard of some of the late 1964 model year street 426 cars having the M.W. casting number blocks in them with the 3/8 NPT oil pickup in them like the 361,383 motors used with the 4 quart stock oil pan in them also instead of using the bigger M.W. oil pans and the 1/2 NPT swinging pickups in those cars shruggy

I would suggest waiting to find a 440 or a 400 and stroke it.

hi
that would be a bolt in engine , better than a blowen 383 !

stick a used holley street dominator intake on there and a 750 holiey or even your stock 383 carb and drive your car !

stock 426w had 340 hp and if it is stamped HP 365 hp .

prob 516 closed chamber heads on it so comp should be 10-1 advertized !

look at the ID PAD to the right of the distributor , V426 HP is a 1964 426/365 hp street wedge. A426 HP is a 1965 426 street wedge 365hp(adv), B426 HP would be a 1966 426w/365 hp
