91 Ramcharger

Can I lift the body and fenders off as one unit without damage, using a 2 post lift?

Gonna get started on. The frame blasting and drivetrain removal, also thinking about setting the body on a 03 frame just to see what else might be involved other than shortening the wheelbase.

Thanks
V10

yes. But I'd remove the doghouse and then remove the body.

When you say doghouse.. you mean the hump in the floor where the 4x4 shifter goes through? I thought that was part of the floor and not a bolt in like the earlier body style?

The dog house usually refers to the front fenders, radiator support, and hood . Once removed from the truck, the opening at the firewall gives the front sheet metal the appearance of a dog house, closed on 3 sides, open on the the side with a roof overhead.

When you lift the body shell with a hoist, the front sheet metal doesn't have much support. If the fenders are real good, you might be OK, if the fenders are questionable, you may end up with bent fenders. I would remove the dog house. There is usually 3-4 fender to firewall bolts, maybe a couple inner fender bolts, and the radiator support mounts (once the other normal stuff is removed) to remove the dog house as a unit. Gene

I asked this same question over on Ramchargercentral and most everyone said to remove it with the front clip attached....actually not very difficult to do.
