My fairly new Power master XS starter seems to have taken a crap. I have an old mini that i bought from Mancini Racing back in 2000. Used it on my SB's for a long while til i bought the Power master. Do old Mini's work well on BB's with 11:1 comp? Thanks

I have a stock 5.2 magnum starter on my 10.8:1 493. It works perfect on my engine.

It will work fine. I had a stock rebuilt starter on my 500 with 14:1. Cranked it fine.

One I threw new contacts in back in 98 from a warranty return “clicks won’t start” has spun all 3 of our 13 to 1 small blocks smile still in the car.

In 1999(?) they went from a stud and nut to a wire plug-in so the earlier ones are easier to connect to an older car.

Thats what I use on my 493 also with 10.6 comp. No problems at all. Ron

Sounds like the mopar mini is a good one. I'm a little surprised the power master xs starter took a crap so soon. Not much use on it. Bought it about 5 yrs ago, but only has maybe one season use on it. Not an inexpensive starter either. My local starter/ alt shop told me to stay away from the power master mini alts. Must be same deal with their starters.

The factory Mopar units are actually real Denso starters and the aftermarket stuff is mostly Chinese rip offs twocents
What does your Powermaster do? Does it just click or is there no response at all when voltage is applied. If it just clicks you can just get a set of contacts for less than $20.00 and it will be like new again. I put contacts in probably over 100 starters in my career and that fixes 99.9% of them.

It was just clicking but after a few atemps it wouldnt do any thing and would lose power to the relay for a couple minutes at a time. Then would have voltage to relay again til i hit the start button again. Starter works on the bench but doesnt feel smooth like the mopar mini which is now on the car and working great. Thanks guys

Ok. This one spins the engine faster than the powermaster did. I let the car sit for 5hrs after running. I hit the start button without touching the fuel pedal and the 511 started right up and idled. Nice. With a sorted carb and a good starter im happy.
