What do you think the limitations are for a hellcat blower on a 6.1 based motor all forged bottom end. Could it make 1000 hp on premium pump? There are a few kits coming available soon to bolt the hellcat blower to standard heads eagle and newer. Have been leaning towards a Whipple but this setup could interesting.

Larger Volume Superchargers are becoming availavailable.

Kenny Bell has had them for years, Magnuson also is a quality company.

More volume will produce more power at a lower boost level. The engine will run cooler and live longer. High PSI equas more heat.

Either way you may find that you have a restriction(s). Throttle body, exhaust, air cleaner.

Our shop mule, a 10 SRT challenger has has an Edelbrock Eaton 2.3L SC since 2012. Have had the 6lb pulley on it. Just put the 8lb pully on. Water methonal injection.

Can't get it to make more than 7lbs boost. Belt slip or something? Throttle body?

We'll figure it out!

Hope that helps.

Clay

Bore on the 6.1 will be the limiting factor, they get thing over 4.07

Good tune, 400ish CI, Aftermarket main caps, 1000hp is with in reach.
BGE heads are the better choice for boosted

Those hellcat blowers are HEAVY! I have one, and it weighs over 115 lbs! So figure that into your choice.

Wow thats more than I would have guessed. I was just tossing the idea of a hellcat unit now that there are adapter kits coming available. I still think the Whipple will be a better choice for my situation but have not pulled the trigger just yet.

I would go whipple, start with low boost and have plenty more power on reserve when you get ready for it. Having to buy a hellcat blower, then buying a whipple when you want more power is going to be more expensive.

For sure only doing it once, I have very specific goal. Was exploring if the Hellcat blower would meet the goal.

I've done 2 so far, one was 4.125 X 3.795 with a 6.25 rod, 406 CI RR worked out to 1.65ish and a comp height of 1.09, I thought this would of made a great Boosted engine, but it was built NA. Apache heads with 2.18 Intake Howards .600 lift cam Edelbrock EFI intake
the 2nd we pushed the limit on the sleeve, Darton says max bore for the MID sleeve system is 4.155, but we went 4.185, with a Molnar NHRA 3.59 crank 6.3 Length rods . 395CI 1.75 RR and 1.12 Comp height, and they spin that thing HIGH.

you could in theory build a 460 with the Darton sleeves, 4.155 X 4.25 , with a 6 in rod you would need a 1.125ish comp height , with a 6.125 rod you'd need a hockey puck `1 inch ish, now a Carrillo Pro 66070H rod would be a good compromise 6.07 length. bad thing is those rods are about $300-400 each....but then again everything in this "bench Race" 6.1 is going to be costly

Cost wise, a 6.1 block (dont seem to see those for less than 1K), darton sleeves, and machine work would have to be getting close to aluminum block $$ wise would it not?

I think you'd have issues with that short of a comp height. Boost pistons require .250 minimum from the top of the Piston to the first ring groove. But like you said everything would be big money.

I had Arrington bore and stroke my 6.1L to 7.2L and left it N/A. Kit was advertised as 600hp N/A, and it did dyno at 525rwhp. Saved the cost of the super-charger. Next time will go 7.0L with Super-Charger for around 800hp. This is in my 6spd Challenger daily driver, and it still gets 19mpg at 70mph. Can smack down a lot of expensive imports now!

I dont think I would ever explore into anything with that short a comp height for my application. This is for drag week and its a street strip car, longevity and reliability are a big factor. Granted with a lofty goal of mid to high 8's but at the weight I will end up at on my demon its not crazy talk with aroung 426 ci. Ballpark 1000 hp at the crank should more than get it done in the chassis I have built. And I think it is doable with the right motor & blower combo.

You should be able to get 1000hp with a super charger from 7.0L built for a drag car. That Hellcat blower sounds too heavy though, there must be lighter ones...

Jegs and Summit have the Mopar Alum blocks listed in the $4300-4500 range I'm sure you could find them a little cheaper somewhere else.

the Darton MID Sleeves are about 1500-1600. Machine work would depend on if you can fins a local or have to sent it to Darton or one of the shops they recommend.

a month ago I bought a 6.1 with 2 cracked cylinders for $100 but the going price seams to be $900-1500 for good block.

I think your goal is very archivable

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSBeSfrvko8

granted it's a NA 449 CI G3, weight is about your Demon's ball park.

Not to hijack the thread but any reason the Darton mid sleeves could not be put in a 5.7 block? I would think the cylinder walls will be completely bored out of the 6.1. Why not a 5.7?

Honestly I don't see why they couldn't be used in a 5.7 block, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone hasn't already done it.

There area few SBC and LS application sleeves that could be modified to work in the G3 block, I 'd like to try a few different combos when the funds are available
