I am buliding a 528 aluminum street hemi engine and have heard from my engine shop that in the past they had a experiance with mopar perfomance heads valve seat fall out . Dose any one have any recent experiance with this problem ? is it just a certain batch of heads ? dose anyonre know had to identify these heads ? How long ago did you get the heads that had a problem and do you have any idea of how long they sat on the shelf?

thanks to all
Steve

Any time I see the words "I heard" or "My friend/machine shop/girlfriend's brother says" I get suspicious. As to this question I don't believe I've heard of such a thing. Also there have been at least three foundries involved in making heads. So upon which head from which foundry is the old wives' tale based?

R.

Try calling Barton and see if he can help ID the bad run(. If possible).

This is a known problem.

There was a run of bad heads by one of the previous vendors. Haven't heard anything bad about the current heads.

If you can't ID them and you want to use them anyway you can replace the seats in yours.

The machining and the fit of the seats were a issue.

Ok guys that is disturbing ,, I don't think those pictures are a urban ledgend ! looks like cold hard facts , the question is how long ago were those heads made ? are the newer ones any better in quality ?

Dose anyone know how to contact Stage V engineering there web site is very simple with no real descriptions or prices .

Yep.....ate an intake seat with less then 500 miles on a new motor. If I were you and HAD to use those heads I would replace EVERY seat or get something else....you have been warned which is more then I got....screw MP anything. It's junk....ALL junk IMHO.

Doug thanks for the warning I think I'll spend the extra money and go for Stage V engineering heads ,hopefully I'll get what I'm paying for.

If I had it to do all over again that is what I would do....that seat cost me another 5K and counting....good choice.
