Yes all the 6.4s are VVT, I have seen kits to adapt them for to use the early non VVT cams and timing sets, you should be able to get that and run the distributor. I dont think anyone has anything to run a distributor on a VVT engine that still uses VVT.

upon re examining my blocks I dont think it will work, the tensioners bolt to the block different and the chain ends up further out so you can not use the early shallow cover. I have no idea how you would make it all work.

What Dave said ,you can not use the early cover on the VVT blocks, it will bolt on to the block but there isn't enough room for the phaser to fit under the cover.
I can't comment on the Jesel kit but the Preefix kit WILL NOT work on the VVT blocks...…...BEEN THERER TRIED IT < AND DOES NOT WORK.

Rick Talbot is the guy you want to talk to I've got one and it won't work on a VVT block. They are made for early 5.7 and 6.1. Matt

wish I had the money for some nice ported heads.
Kinda stinks for the old school guys trying to run the new hemi, no distributor, carb intakes are really really expensive or they suck. I dont get the lack of usefull afordable parts for one of the best PR car engines ever.

what about like what BES did in the engine masters and run a distributor off a little belt drive thingy? I am told I need to switch to a dry timing belt setup, yet the BES one looks like a stock cover...That's what I wanted to do...
