Why torque a oem almn head different than an aftermarket head? Is it because the better deck(thicker) seals w/o as much torque? 40ft/lbs seems light, especally on a race motor? What are you differing on OEM style vs aftermarket?

I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally....

I'am referring to the after market like an Indy head that has a bolt rather than a stud in the lifter valley.A bolt clamps differently than a stud, you are friction loading as well as clamp loading and may pull the threads as well as distort the floor of the intake. There is a redundency as far as friction loading with a stud and the stud thread hole in an OEM style is a through hole whereas the Indy is a blind hole and it's termination is part of the intake floor.
