My RobbMc starter shredded the teeth inside the outer ring gear and had me stranded 250 miles away from home. Looks like plastic gear! 11 years old, not ran hard/much. Thinking of buying a standard mini starter this time, but not sure if it will fit or what brand and where to get. Quality over price!
440-10:1cr, TKO 600, 143 teeth flywheel, Lakewood schattershield, TTI 2" headers.
What starter(s) will fit and last?

I just buy JY mini's from 5.9 mag trucks. Some I've had to grind on the housing a little, and you have to remove the extra wiring adapter thing. Have also bought replacement starter from rock auto for those trucks

Just get oine for a 360 Dodge like 99 or so.That or 440 source has them cheap. Some are more powerful than others.Thats wht I use 360 Ram starters. My reman from Advancehas been in for almost 20 years.Still perfect and the 12.5 440 cranks like a /6.Rocky

So far -good, but TTI states that their 2" headers on a 440 with 143 teeth flywheel need the RobbMc starter. Is that correct? Not sure if I want to drop another ยง300,- at a starter with plastic ring gear...

Thanks Rocks! How old are your TTI's? Mine were purchased spring 2007. Hopefully they are the same as yours.

I have the RobbMC Starter on my 440, however my next starter will be the new Meziere Starter that also has indexing...the plastic gear still spooks me.
