Fom 1992 to 1995 or more,
Chrysler made Magnum 5.2 V8 CNG engines and sold them in full size vans.
I have a 1992 supplement manual to the 1992 FSM and these CNG Magnum 5.2 V8s internally had Chrome plated exhaust valves.
My 1995 Ram’s sales literature has written that a Dealer installed CNG kit is available for Magnum 5.2 V8 engines in pickups.
Does your Dakota have a Magnum 5.2 V8?
I have previously read posts by mechanics who serviced these CNG Magnum 5.2 V8s in fleet vans who said they were prone to backfire inside the beer barrel style intake manifold and blow out the plenum plate gasket. At least one such poster said they installed MPI intake manifolds on several vans.
In the USA the high pressure glass reinforced tanks have to be pressure tested and re-certified every so many years, which is expensive enough that many fleets scrap the CNG vehicles.
