This is about my 74 D100 with the 408 stroker. I have been running 15.0s 1/4 mile and 9.90s in the 1/8 mile with a 2.94 gear. I went to a 3.91 and would like to get an idea of what times it will run now. Thanks.

What is your 1/4 mile mph, and what 60' are you getting with the 2.94. Were you traction limited with the 2.94? Will you be running the same tires and what are they?

I wouldn't expect a big change, maybe two to four tenths, maybe none It all depends on a lot of other things like converter stall, fuel and intake system and so on, please let us know your results. It will feel a lot better to you so please post the results

I'll say big change. That's a huge improvement in gearing. if it hooks you'll drop 7 thenths or more. each tenth at the 60 foot you save is worth 2 down track.

2.4 60',no traction troubles, 275/60/15 tires, 2500 stall conveter, 750 cfm on a dual plane eldebrock intake. I belive the 1/4 mph was 97. Felt like it took two days to get going even with me loading it to 2000 on launch. I run motly 1/8th mile tracks.

On a mild street car with real street tires, I'm usally of the position that the tire is the limiting factor in the 60' and a gear change wont help much. And that is based on both experiance and considerable observation at the track of others trying gear changes.

However, your 60 foot is very poor even for a street car on street tires. Usually (at lest in a car), you can get to a 2.0 sec. 60' on just about any street tire if your power and gear are reasonably matched. In your case, I actually think that you will see a bigger change going to a 3.91. I think that you can get a 2.1 60', dropping your 1/8 probably by .4 and 1/4 by .5 or .6.

Make the change and let us know.

Yup. I'll be there if the rain stops. I was going to try out the PT turbo but I think the Temple race would be better for that considering the trip to the race.

We had a 318 dart. 484 mopar cam,headers,2 1/2" exh, stock 360 heads & TQ, stock 360 intake. I know its a different combo, lower torque so the change with our combo was big. It went 15 teens with a 2.76. Switched to a 4.10 it went 14 teens. No traction issues with either axle.

Try shifting in down lower where that thing is making more power, like around 5100 or 5200 rpm. You will be amazed.

Update. With lousy track conditions I got my 60" down to 2.1 and 1/8th ets to 9.80. Picked up 4 mph. It still has more in it when the track isn't so slick.
